The JP905 is a Bb mini French Horn with an extra small wrap design. Essentially it is a trumpet with Bb trumpet fingerings but configured as a French Horn using the left hand on the rotary valves, it is compact, lightweight and a pleasure to play.

The JP905 is solidly built, as with all JP Musical Instruments, and includes a sturdy but quiet mechanical linkage. With a distinct sound, quite different from that of a trumpet, cornet or flugel, the JP905 is sure to turn heads and become a point of conversation.

The JP905 Bb Mini French Horn is constructed from yellow brass throughout and includes a 6.5" bell.

The instrument also features decorative engraving inside the bell and is supplied with a JP Mouthpiece and lightweight carry case.

The case is semi-rigid, well padded and includes hard wearing YKK zips throughout. A comfortable shoulder strap and three small external storage pockets are also included as standard.

The best instrument but shrunk

This little horn is such an amazing substitute for the triple horn (yes it’s actually a thing) as it can almost breach the flutes boundary when played properly. It does not require a new mouthpiece and it’s got silent valves. I myself am a horn player and I fell in love with this tiny little gem after giving it a single blow.It has got trumpet fingering I highly recommend this instrument to any horn player after the ability of being able to play a top A. It is definitely worth the money as it later saves a professional player from buying a triple horn.

Small but Perfectly Formed

This little horn is solidly built and comes in a well padded semi-rigid gig bag about the size of a large camera case. The mechanical linkage mechanism is sturdy & quiet though I found the springing rather hard. There seems to be little tolerance pitch-wise in the upward direction as I had to have the main tuning slide pushed fully in to get up to pitch with my electronic tuner and likewise the valve slides for 1 & 2 seemed to need to be pushed right in. The mouthpiece receiver seems to be slightly on the large size, so my usual horn mouthpiece was half swallowed up, though that did seem to help the overall pitch of the instrument. In an ideal world I'd probably like to have the receiver replaced with something more standard and the tuning slides shortened a little but this would likely double the price of the instrument. All in all I'm pleased rather than disappointed - it does make a pleasant, though not altogether horn-like sound that is distinctly different from trumpet, cornet or flugel and I'm looking forward to seeing the expressions of the faces of the horn section when I whip it out.
