  • Much of its design is based upon the Custom EX saxophones, and it shares many of the same features. The 475II is a one piece soprano that offers outstanding response, tone, and intonation, as well as comfortable playability that can be appreciated by students through to professionals.

    Custom style Bb spatula:  The custom spatula facilitates correct technique and increases player comfort

  • Adjustable thumb rest: Thumb rest allows for a comfortable hand and fingering position

Amazing instrument and service.

An outstanding saxophone from Yamaha, shipped in a very protected condition from John Packer with minimal chances of damage thanks to the meticulous packaging and stuffing inside the box! Having played Alto sax for a couple of years now, I wanted to branch out into the Soprano, and the YSS-475ii caught my eye immediately. In person, its brilliant finish gives it a very classy look and it sounds great straight out of the box.

If you're in a similar position to me, you can't go wrong with this sax as a quality horn to learn on and indeed progress onto an intermediate level and beyond. The setup that comes with the Soprano works great as it is, but I found that I found the sound I wanted by using a 'Dark' ligature from Rovner which I discovered from my Alto sax learning days.

Regardless of your own customisation however, it's a fantastic instrument and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to both Soprano beginners and more experienced players wanting a solid, reliable horn. Competitive price and excellent service from John Packer.
