  • Fantastic, Great Value

    By: ,

After trying out a number of different D/Eb trumpets, including the Stomvi Elite range, and Schilke E3L, I decided to buy this Yamaha. Although much cheaper than its competitors, and without the interchangeable bell system employed by the E3L, it really lives up to expectations. The tuning is stable, and doesn't lack anything a trumpet with exchangeable valves would offer. The valves are very free moving, and with regular care, cleaning and oiling, they move as fast and as freely as any other trumpet I've played. With the water key, rubber stops are used instead of the more widely used cork; it seems the rubber keys will last longer, and will be less susceptible to water damage, like their cork counterparts. The slides on my trumpet are not as free as I would have hoped, but with a bit of care, and lots of use, I think they will free up and be much more smooth, so this is not a great worry for me. Yamaha are cementing their reputation for offering both student standard, and higher, professional standard instruments.
