Howarth no longer make open hole oboes like these anymore. Despite this it remains a good oboe for student players. This S1 oboe is ring model; making it a little lighter, but requiring a good technique. It has simple octave mechanism.

This would be a great oboe for someone looking for an affordable oboe capable of playing to a medium level, with a body that produces a good tone.
