  • Light and fast, top quality tenor

    By: ,

I picked up one of these used, after 2 years the Pisoni My Pads were all soggy and needed drying out. I plan to replace them with higher grade Deluxe waterproof pads from Pisoni. This horn has its own character, light and very fast to operate the action but still keeping a good tone from a larger bore bell. It also manages to be efficient on air required. From the box, it did not impress immediately with an enriched tone and massive volume that some loud horns manage by their air sucking design. It took me a while to adapt to the sudden ability to play faster and blow longer phrases (I have asthma). The C to D transition is also very smooth but not as easy as the Yamaha/Yanagisawa tenors, which are more money and less "fluffy" sounding. You can't have it back. IMHO its got the wrong level of pads on it, but at least they can all be changed later on.
