Trombone instrument Maintenance

  1. Fill the instrument slide with warm soapy water and move it up and down several times. Rinse through with clean cold water. Repeat as necessary.
  2. Inner and outer instrument slides should be disassembled and cleaned with a flexible cleaner. Make sure that the cleaner reaches the bottom bow of the outer instrument slide.
  3. A small (don't go mad) amount of good quality instrument slide cream should be applied to the inner instrument slide stocking and sprayed with clear water.
  4. Make certain that the bell and tuning slide are kept clean by running warm water through them and by using a tuning slide swab or flexible cleaner. Dry with a lint free cloth and apply tuning slide grease before reassembly.
