Commission and second hand musical instruments

We welcome part exchange transactions and also buy in second hand instruments. However, we must point out that the best return for the customer comes from making a private sale. If you can't sell it privately we would offer to sell it on your behalf through the shop on a commission basis where you can take advantage of the large numbers of customers making enquiries. We charge a percentage of a mutually agreed selling price and the VAT comes out of our share.

Selling price less than £750 - 20% commission
Selling price £750 or more - 15% commission

These are probably the cheapest rates available.

To protect our customers, we require all instruments sold on a commission basis to be in respectable playing order. Any repair work will be completed before the instrument is offered for sale and the repair charges are billed to the owner (not the purchaser) upon completion of the work. We will not allow the owner of the instrument to pass the cost of repairs onto the next purchaser. We feel that it is most important to present instruments in proper working condition with all the benefits of a thorough examination.

We do not include student instruments in our second hand list due to their very fast turnover. We do not wish to disappoint you when your hearts desire may be sold by the time you contact us. If you are on the lookout for a second hand student item, just let us know what you are looking for and we'll contact you as soon as an appropriate instrument comes in.
