ANOTHER TUBAX SOLD

We have recently sold our seventh Eppelsheim TUBAX Contra Brass Saxophone Eb Lacquer.

tubaxThe Tubax is an astonishing new product. With it's unorthodox configuration and narrow bore, it is that rarest of rare beasts - a contrabass instrument that is a real instrument rather than a low frequency generator. Fantastic.

The Tubax is the first major evolution of the saxophone since the time of its conception. Lots of changes have been made to saxophones during this period, but none has been quite so radical. This instrument, with its extremely narrow bore and convoluted form, allows the player a remarkable degree of tonal and dynamic versatility and is beguiling in its ease of play. It's range of tone colours moves with alacrity from rock and roll (to beef up the bass or rhthym section) to the lyricism required for the filling of any 'classical' parts. Its top range enters with stability right up into the bottom of the baritone top register. The fact that many of the linkages go across the instrument rather than up and down, mean that substantially less metal is being moved, so the keywork feels positive and the small amount of travel lends itself to playing with speed and precision in a realm where this has not previously been a really practical proposition. All in all this is a stunning instrument of great versatility and character.
