The John Packer trombone, (JP 131) is made and designed with the student trombonist in mind.
With rose brass bell, nickel outer slide, chrome inner slide, .500 bore, 8" bell and a solid carrying case, you get a lot for your money here.
Upon picking it up for the first time, you notice that although solidly built, it is considerably lighter than some of its rivals, which for small and younger trombonist is an instant bonus, as they can hold it up for longer.
With a standard arc (gooseneck) the JP 131 fits comfortably around the neck, enabling the student to adopt the correct playing, slide and embouchure positions.
It is a well-balanced instrument, so movement of the slide from 1st to 7th position is made with very little effort.
The tonal quality of the 131 is good too! (I know this because I've done lots & lots & lots of long note practice on it!!!!**^%$!).
It is supplied with a 12C mouthpiece which is an excellent and supportive choice for a beginner.
As far as student trombones are concerned, the John Packer Trombone is a serious contender to any of its rivals. At half the price of its competitors, there is no competition.
