Flute Funday in Plymouth
THE flute charity 4Flutes is delighted to be welcoming celebrated flautist Philippe Barnes to their 2010 Flute Funday in Plymouth this October.
As one of the leading exponents of traditional music on a Boehm system flute; flute player, composer and teacher Philippe Barnes will share with flautists his unique style of combining elements of jazz and Celtic music to create sophisticated modern folk sound. The day aims to explore playing traditional music on the silver flute - but also using the silver flute for other non-classical music.
Sponsored by John Packer Ltd, the day is open to flute players of all ages any abilities. The Funday will be an excellent opportunity to have fun, learn techniques, explore new repertoire and meet new players. Flautists will also be given the opportunity to try harmony flutes such as piccolos, alto and bass flutes. The day takes place on Sunday, October 3rd, from 10am - 4.30pm at the University of Plymouth in Sherwell. The day will be concluded with a free concert by Philippe at 4pm. Tickets for the day cost £25 per person, or £20 for 'Friends of 4Flutes'. Details of membership can be found on the 4Flutes website.
All places need to be booked in advance. For application forms or more details please see the 4Flutes website or contact: Ruth Ballantyne or Mike Nottage on: 01752 844017/ 07779 063948
