Annie Gardner -

Placeholder Having been born on a farm in darkest Devon in the Fifties, my only musical exposure was via a gentleman called Mr Greenwood (whom we nicknamed Elvis for non-obvious reasons!). He tried as hard as he might, but he could not enthuse any of us in our year at school, bar a girl called Sue and me, to take music at O level. Well I passed (not sure about Sue) and there my musical achievements ended, that is until 1994 when I applied for the post of PA to John Packer. Luckily for me (and I like to think for John Packer Ltd.also) I got the job! And the rest, as they say, is history (well it WAS a long time ago!). I became a Director of the company in 1997, picked up the Company Secretary mantle and now, along with Jon Parkinson, run the day-to-day function of the company with of course, guidance from the big boss. The job is never dull. We have grown in size, shape, have gone from 8 employees in 1994 to the 20 that we are today.

The thing I find most amazing about my job here is how it has changed over the years. Technology of course has had a huge hand in this - I would never have dreamt that I would send an email to someone who sits just six feet from my chair! We can be a little Dickensian here in our quirky shoppe with wooden cabinets (and I'm sure some would say a Scrooge-like finance director) but we work well together and as long as I never have to wax lyrical about the bore size of a flugel horn, I will continue to enjoy my job and the people around me.
