Oboe & Cor Anglais
The oboe family is descended from the shawm, which dates back to pre-medieval times. They are members of the double reed family of woodwind instruments. The oboe is a non-transposing instrument while the large Cor Anglais, with its bulb shaped barrel, is in the key of F. Most instruments are made from blackwood and have a variety of different key systems and options particularly on the higher models.
